Olive Tree Cafe - Newark

I was excited to find a restaurant with a vegan-friendly menu and decided to dine there with my picky 6-year-old. However, my experience was soured when the host informed us that there would be a wait. He then proceeded to openly complain about our decision-making process, even though we had only been there for a couple of minutes. He also made negative remarks about my son not being vegan, despite the fact that he had been vegan his whole life. When I confronted him about his comments, he seemed unfazed. I was extremely disappointed by this poor service and will not be returning to this establishment.

However, after informing the staff that we may take a bit longer to decide, the employee went to the back and loudly complained about us taking too long, making baseless assumptions about us. Despite my attempts to let him know we could hear him, he continued on without hesitation. As we left, he made further derogatory comments, to which I quickly confronted him. His nonchalant reaction solidified my decision to never return to this restaurant.

The guy at the front rudely complained about us taking too long to decide (only 2 minutes) and made assumptions about my child not being vegan, despite being vegan his whole life. When I called him out on his behavior, he quickly walked away. As we were leaving, he mentioned that we didn't order anything, and I made sure to let him know that we heard everything he said about us. His reaction was indifferent. Overall, I was extremely disappointed and will not be returning to this restaurant.
