Mexican - Newbern

Basic american-mexican food. service is attentive. i would call this tex-mex. not spicy at all. popular with local senior crowd.

Ochoa's is awesome. Homemade tortillas, enchilada sauce, beans. I've had Mexican food all over the country, ochoa's is the best. Only things they don't have, carne asada, but I can deal with that. Try the ethington special with green chili, my favorite.

We arrived at the peak of the lunchtime rush, and the restaurant was pretty much full. We noticed that the table and floor were as clean as grandma 's house. The decoration was festive and appropriate. Water with lemon and chips salsa arrived at the table in less than 2 minutes. We were starving, and we drove around a half hour before we found this place so we were grateful to start munching right away. The nice lady took our order, and the food came in just a few minutes. I had #12, Hermosillo, I chose green chili sauce with the beef dish which came with a very substantial order of rice and beans. I ate every piece of rice and every bean off my plate, it was super duper amazing. I poured out the remaining salsa onto my beans and finished them off with pieces of the tortilla that came with my meal. My wife had #1 Mazatlan, taco and cheese enchilada 's with the enchilada sauce from heaven. She can 't get enough enchilada sauce. We will go back for more this weekend for sure. We got 2 more orders to go for my daughters at home. Price is very reasonable too. It feels like a family restaurant. It 's the kind of place I like to go because I don 't go to restaurants that are owned by a hedge fund or a giant corporation. Good food, good people, and good price

My husband and I went there for lunch. After ordering I noticed a sign that said authentic Mexican food. I ask our server about that, she said the beans were made with LARD. And the Rice was made with Chicken Stock. A few years ago this would not have bothered me. Now we are trying to eat a bit healthier. If this does not bother you great! I choose not to load my body with lard. I have not eaten chicken for 10 years, I asumed rice was a dish served with out meat renderings.
