We sat at a very comfortable lounge area at the side with a fantastic uninterrupted view of the harbour. A great way to while away an hour or so. Not sure about the views from the proper dining area. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We started with an antipasto platter which wasn't anything particularly interesting, but then had the salt and pepper calamari from the bar snacks menu. Unlike most restaurants who do this dish, Silo really packed some punch into the salt and pepper so it had great flavour and was accompanied by a delicious nam jim dippig sauce. Would definitely go back at least for that and the view!
With a westerly blowing my partner and I were looking for lunch and we tried Silo. The service and food were good. Staff were attentive and made us feel very welcomed. There are several restaurants in this area so I thought the choice of meals would be better. I had Prawn and Chilli Linguini with so many prawns. Service was good and price were ok.
Had a very enjoyable lunch with friends we good service & good food recommend lunch special of meal & drink
Booked a table for 10 to celebrate my dad's 80th birthday. At the time of my initial booking I asked for an inside table mentioning that, being winter, we didn't want to be out in the cold. The table we were given was just inside doors which opened out onto the outdoor eating area - it was very cold. We mentioned to our waitress that it was very cold and she did pull the bi-fold doors across which helped. Our entrees of duck, scallops and pork belly, arrived within a reasonable time and were lovely. We then waited a very long time for the mains to come out. The risotto, fish and salmon dishes were lovely. We had also ordered a couple of steak dishes and a lamb. All were impossible to cut through with the standard knife provided, had to ask for a steak knife. My dad had the lamb which was the biggest disappointment, arriving at the table barely warm, it contained a lot of gristle and was just unpleasant to eat. Dad persevered but gave up in the end. He spoke to the waitress and the maitre d came and spoke to him. They apologised and we were not charged for his meal, so overall the problem was well handled by the wait staff and we did appreciate this. We decided against ordering dessert. Would I go back there to eat again? No
We braved the inclement weather on a cold and rainy evening. We were rewarded with awesome cocktails, friendly, attentive service and we practically had the place to ourselves! There is an extensive cocktail and wine list as well as bar snacks and a full menu. There's even coffee and cake! We've been here a few times now and it's consistently good.
