Liddesdale - Newcastleton

Just spent five nights in Newcastleton. We visited the Liddesdale hotel each day with our dog for a few drinks. Thomas the chef advised us on the Morrocan spicy beef which was absolutely superb. Very friendly locals who made us very welcome in the bar. Service: 5 Location: 5

Three of us stayed here on a cycling holiday. Tom the manager is brilliant, a good cook and good company. Rooms are clean, a little dated, everything is reasonably priced, with a secure place for bicycles. We would stay there again. The breakfast was great. Thomas was a n excellent host. The rooms are a little tired but they are clean and warm. This is a great place to stay as there are some very good local walks. Thomas is also an excellent cook and makes you feel very welcome. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5

Helpful friendly staff. The manager, Tomasz does a great job. Decent food evening and breakfast. House beer is Sam Smiths, hmm. Guest ale was OK. Bar lacks character or atmosphere I assume it is owned by Smiths and they don’t like spending money which shows. Accommodation was fine, clean and everything worked, but basic and tired a bit like the rest of the place. Wi Fi was close to non existent. Feels like it is kept going by good staff but needs a bit of TLC.
