The Sloop Inn, Hungry Horse

The food portions were disappointing. They didn't have any scampi available, and I wanted to substitute it with chicken nuggets. After a long day out, I felt they should have replenished their supplies for the evening menu. The service was decent; the staff did their best.

The restaurant was quite quiet, yet there were numerous reserved tables. We ended up sitting at table 17, which turned out to be a mistake as it was in the staff's preferred path from the kitchen to the dining area. This was made more uncomfortable by a loose floorboard in the aisle. Additionally, the staff entrance and kitchen access areas detracted from the overall appearance, as both needed a thorough cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. The condiment station was also untidy, which further marred the ambiance of the pub. However, the food was excellent and the dining area itself was spotless. The staff were pleasant and helpful, particularly the gentleman behind the bar.

The food exceeded my expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant and its facilities were decent. My meal arrived promptly, and the staff were friendly. There were a few flies in the seating area, but overall, it was a positive experience.

Food here was great, staff were friendly enough, if you are over 6ft then watch your head on some of the light fittings, I left with a little gash on my forehead. One table we sat next to were really friendly and chatty the other was disgusted that we had children in a family restaurant and were really rude, this sadly spoiled our evening and apparently theirs as they wanted a quite evening out I think they picked the wrong establishment. but not a down side on the hungry horse
