Bambou Chinese - Newtownabbey

We went to this restaurant for a quick meal and I must say, I was quite disappointed. We ordered garlic prawns, but what arrived at our table were 5 small fried prawns with half a fried white onion. For my starter, I ordered smoked chicken, but it turned out to be chicken pieces with another half fried onion and some hot pepper flakes. The honey chilli chicken main dish had a red sauce that tasted and smelled like vinegar. My husband's sirloin was not very tasty, except for the chips. The meat had a thick rind of fat, and the dish was served with grey green peas and more fried onions. The gravy that came with the sirloin was so gelatinous that my husband couldn't eat it. We wanted to complain, but there was only one young server and an older lady taking orders, with no one else in the restaurant. The place was freezing, with only a small fan heater on the floor. It was early on a Tuesday at 5pm, but to serve fried onions as a garnish and offer smoked chicken without actually having it was disappointing. Additionally, the website advertised an early bird set menu for £10 per person, but when we arrived, it was actually £14 per person, with an additional charge of £3 for steak or if we wanted tea or dessert.

This is the best Special Foo yung I have ever tasted. The service was quick and friendly. The dish was very flavorful, with a great variety of ingredients and just the right amount of salt.

My family has ordered from this restaurant three times now, and it will be the last. While the menu is extensive and offers a variety of options, the dishes all look and taste the same, and I use the word "taste" loosely here. They are bland, sloppy, and very forgettable. Unless you are intoxicated or your taste buds are affected by COVID, I would recommend skipping this establishment.

Went with my friend after work. Firstly waited 45 mins for starter, got bbq ribs, was NOT bbq, was watery salty vinegary liquid drowning the ribs with barely any meat on the bone. Then to wait another hour for our mains which was honey chilli chicken, was disgusting to say the least, was so vinegary and tasteless. The wait was a joke!! Then to get the bill and realise they had charged us for 2 cokes and a large Fanta, when we only had water, when telling the staff that took another 10 mins to sort out and felt like they didn't believe us even tho the staff told the man that she served us the water. The prices are ridiculous and are NOT worth it. Left so much food which was wasted, it was clear we didn't like it and the staff never even asked why we never ate it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
