I was informed that the food was en route and they apologized for the delay. The order arrived within 5 minutes of the phone call, but the food was cold. We had to reheat everything in the microwave. I am very disappointed with both the food and the quality of service.
I hadn't been to the Captain's Table in years, so I stopped by last night. I only ordered some chips and a tub of curry because they don't serve meat-free pasties. Unfortunately, the chips were the smallest I have ever seen, around 25-30 chips for £5.20. If you're hungry, I recommend going somewhere else to save yourself the hassle.
I have been visiting this restaurant for over 20 years. When the previous owner was running it, the place ran like a well-oiled machine. The food was high-quality and reasonably priced. However, recently I have noticed a decline in the quality of the food. The chips have been hard in the middle, which is disappointing for a fish and chip shop. The chicken burgers are of poor quality and the basic pizzas are overpriced at £13 for cheese and bread. It is unfortunate to see the decline of the Captains Table, as it used to have a great reputation among locals. Now, when people talk about it, it is only in the past tense.
Delivery was over an hour late and I had to cancel a pre booked Taxi while waiting for it to arrive. When we had rang to chase up the delivery we we told they were busy. In contrast my previous delivery arrived early when I wasn't home. No apologies given.
It wasn’t the best I ordered fish bites and it never said that it didn’t come with chips so all I got was a tray of fish and I think that they should make it more clear what comes with it. Not gonna lie I was kinda disappointed.
