Anchor Inn - Newville

I had the grilled cod with cole slaw, and it was excellent. The food was great, and my server was fun and friendly. Food: 5/5, Service: 5/5, Atmosphere: 5/5.

I was banned from the bar after wearing an employee shirt. They told me to turn the shirt inside out or leave. I left. Several days later I called Julie, the general manager and she told me I was not banned. However, last week, one of the managers involved was very rude about it over the phone and told me I was banned. Apparently they run the show. Andrew Severson, an employee of Anchor, has looked up my record on CCAP and shared it with other staff. He had something to do with this. He has harassed me for weeks. I guess that's no surprise considering he has mental health issues. Julie allows this behavior and then will not return a phone call to discuss the situation. Very unprofessional. The drinks are overpriced and the staff is rude and unprofessional. They act like spoiled children. No loss. If you want employees and not the manager to ban you for nothing and meddle in your personal business, then go here! Oh and there is not more to the story as Julie would have people believe. They make a lot of apologies on these reviews, but nothing ever changes. That really is all.

"The wait staff were perfectly attentive. As for the parking situation, there was plenty available, making it convenient. I enjoyed a delicious Chicago-style hotdog during my lunch visit. Overall, I would rate the food a 5, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 5 as well. The price per person was reasonable, around $10–20, and the free parking lot was a great bonus!"

Bleu cheese and bacon burger. The burger was good, but the fries were cold. It's located on the Rock River which was very nice. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I waited 42 minutes for a burger, and when it finally arrived, it was almost raw despite ordering it well done! The waitress took over 20 minutes to bring us refills of water and Pepsi, and she just kept walking past us. It was a terrible experience. To top it off, she handed us our check before my burger even came back out, and it was the wrong check. We definitely won't be returning. The only positive was the band! We arrived at 1:02 PM, and it's now 2:24 PM, and we still haven't eaten! Meal type: Lunch.
