It's on a quiet street but very close to all the restaurants on Rue Massena. There's also a very good restaurant across the street on Grimaldi, and Chez Julie also has a light menu. It's a very quaint spot with lovely décor and ambience, a friendly, lively crowd and, most of all, a wonderful hostess in Julie. She has a wonderful smile and personality and made us feel so welcome every time we stopped by, even to the point of playing some American classics on the sound system for us. Great selection of wines and specialty drinks at very reasonable prices. We loved our first trip to the amazing city of Nice and our visits to Chez Julie did nothing but enhance our experience.
Go here if you’re thirsty and find yourself in Nice’s Carré D’Or; go here if you have a little hunger but don’t want a big meal; go here if you’re feeling sorry for yourself; go here to celebrate (anything).Go here of course, for a Bellini (the best on Cote D’Azur) Just go here. This apero bar in rue Grimaldi is run by Julie herself, who epitomises an ‘It’s Five o’clock Somewhere’ approach to life. Hugely welcoming, the bar, although not big, has great personality and ambience. Talking to other customers is expected. Good musical taste and if you speak nicely, Julie will find and stream your favourites. There is a good selection of wines, beers and soft drinks, (and Bellinis) and an excellent selection of freshly prepared tapas-style dishes – which normally include pate/rillettes/fish/seafood/cheese/vegetarian options. Warning: you’ll want to stay.
Chez Julie has been open for 6 months and I stumbled upon it last week whilst on holiday in Nice. The charming bar is very tastefully decorated and serves excellent tapas. However, you should go to Chez Julie for 2 other reasons. Firstly, the bar offers some excellent wine! Personally I tried the Chardonnay and the Sancerre, all are reasonably priced. Secondly, Julie herself is so friendly and welcoming, you get proper service and it's a super place to kick off your evening.
My family and I ( 4 adults ) had to book into the Holiday inn courtesy of EasyJet having technical problems. When we finally got to the hotel and checked in their bar was closed, so after a 2 minute walk we came upon Chez Julie, it was a warm evening and the proprietor moved seats outside with a table and we enjoyed and couple of sundowners and a chat about our delay.Such a pleasant atmosphere and friendly management.
I stopped by Chez Julie for a drink by coincidence because it was close to my hotel and I ended up leaving after probably more then 5 drinks :) and very nice conversations with Julie and her customer-friends; Julie is extremely friendly, speaks good English, so it's not by chance that her customers return every week. I recommend you stop by and check it yourself, it's central but out of the tourist area so you will go with the locals with a cozy touch :) enjoy!
