L J Schooners Dockside - Niceville

A bit of a long review We were really looking forward to visiting LJ Schooners drove 45min to get there based on a friends’ recommendation of the yacht club, sailing program, oysters.We were greeted by a very pleasant lady that was working behind the bar who told us to sit anywhere. Alex was our waitress. She brought us menus and took our drink order, and we asked for the oysters. We were so bummed when she told us that we couldn’t order oysters until 3pm!!!!! We would not have driven there for lunch knowing this! No mention on their website at all…. There is a blackboard though in the lobby :/We asked for a wine list, there was none. We inquired about the white wines, Alex ran through a brief and uncertain list. We asked her the cost of a particular glass then decided to go with the house white.Shortly after, I overheard Alex complaining to the bartender about my choice of wine. Making faces and whining that I said the particular glass was too expensive. When she returned to the table I let her know that I had overheard her and showed her the same bottle of wine for sale at Walmart for $11.98 that they were selling for $16 a glass. She smirked and didn’t know quite what to say and just walked away.Alex avoided our table for about a half hour and then brought over our orders. Cuban sandwiches were the absolute worst thing ever! Burnt French bread, a tiny smidge of mustard, a dehydrated piece of ham, a bit of melted cheese and a few pickles. It was almost inedible!We politely finished our meals, ordered the cheesecake for desert, which was good. Alex then reappeared when it was bill “tip” time. She was very concerned about how well we were managing with the bill! We tipped her 18% as we thought to be the bigger person.Before leaving, I went to the restroom and while there someone turned off the lights from the outside. I was left in complete darkness, couldn’t see one step in front of myself! I stumbled around until I found the door and left.Needless to say, this was a terrible experience and we will NEVER go back there!The location is lovely the view is wonderful especially if seated outside or near a window but the food was awful, service is scary and for $100 for lunch for 3 people there are sooooo many other places where we can go! Management, I hope you take note of the behaviors of your staff!! It’s a shame!

Absolutely terrible. My food was burned. Took more than 2 hours to get it and my drink was mostly water. Completely disappointed. Not worth the time or money.

We went on a Wednesday night and had no trouble getting a table for 6. The staff was friendly and the service was excellent. We ordered a variety of items from the menu and everyone was pleased with the quality of the food. We will definitely be back.Food: 5/5

The service was terrible We placed our drink order Got them quickly..took forever for her to return for our food order When it finally came all the food was in to go containers bagged The food items ordered were nothing what the waiter described to us The atmosphere was very nice but service food very disappointing Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
