Ikomai serves Japanese street and comfort food. The serving’s just right, and the food tastes delightful. I’m glad we visited this restaurant. It appears on various online articles listing the best romantic restaurants in Makati.
Pork had a thick layer of fat. Shrimp was not fresh. Waiter seemed lacking enthusiasm while working. No prior advice on what was available or not. Noisy atmosphere. Waste of money.
Ikomai serves Japanese food with a twist and they are able to deliver this perfectly, both in terms of taste and presentation. Everything we ordered tasted really good and so sharing here my recos: Salmon poke: think spicy salmon sashimi but prepared poke style; super good!!! Ebi Ikomai taco: interesting way to prepare a taco but will try other flavors next time to see which one is the best Wagyu skirt steak: melt in your mouth goodness aaahhh
What a fantastic restaurant! There is a buzz about this place, groups really come alive here. The ambiance encourages laughter and fun conversation and, it really carries over into the food. What we had was is delicious and for the most part the options are really built for sharing. Which isn't a bad thing in our context. What I will say though is I couldn't imagine being here on my own without the help of a waiter, I am not brilliantly conversant in Japanese cuisine and I was spoiled for choice. The prices are fair and I think we will come again. If you are looking for quiet and romantic, perhaps go next door (Smith steakhouse).
This place is great, with great value for money and the food is really great. My favorite would be the pork instestine skewers (forgot the name). It hunted me for days We even had a great server on that day. I highly recommend this place for everyone to try
