Then asked us to wait on terrace for a table even though numerous tables were free. Staff then completely ignored us and after a further 10minutes we walked out as clearly they were not interested. My parents are fluent in French and they were overstaffed so no excuses! Unless you want to ruin your visit to this beautiful city then avoid frankly the view is not worth it for the shocking customer experience.
It's worth a visit to the rooftop restaurant in the Contemporary Art Museum just for the view of the Maison Carrée and its surroundings. The most successful of the things we ordered was the steak and french fries from the child's menu that our 7 year old enjoyed immensely. We had pork tenderloin that was not very tender--we needed to ask for steak knives and even then had trouble cutting it. We had the café gourmand with its 3 mini desserts but found them not so very gourmand. The restaurant was crowded on a June weekday and we hadn't made reservations, but the waiters very kindly fixed up an extra table outside for us. The service was friendly but not as fast or professional as in most French restaurants.
Perfect for eating something enjoying Maison Carree's views from the huge terrace. Great salads and delicious dessert..caffee gourmande is a nice way to taste some of those. Nice service.
Recently had lunch with friends during a visit to the sites. It's a pretty spot but the service was sloppy and waiter had a bad attitude and the food was mediocre at best. Go for coffee and the view.
After visiting Maison Carrée in Nîmes I was quite hungry and was thrilled to see that the Museum of Contemporary Art just opposite had a restaurant. This is via a lift on the top floor. I had a few different little dishes (mese? beautifully presented on a slate tile and tea, also well presented. You can see life passing in the street below through the open sides. I plan to return to Nîmes next year, and this restaurant is a must to go to.
