Everything was so fresh and flavourful. We ordered a verity of different types of food and there wasn’t one thing I didn’t like. My favourites would probably have to be the salmon sashimi, duck springrolls and pork belly. Definitely try out project Tokyo if you’re in the area. One potential downside is you have to order on an iPad instead of to the waiter (I don’t have a problem with this because I can order more whenever I feel like it but some people don’t like this system)
Delicious and excellent service! Highly recommend the omakase set where the chef chooses what you would like to have during the 8 course meal! Our menu was personalised to be pescaterian and every fish was delightful or 'slappin ' '! Would highly recommend to give this place a visit. Worth the time and money. And if money is an issue, try out the website called First Table ;
Our group of three got the biggest omakase set. We got it tailored to be pescatarian without any troubles. The food was fresh, delicious, had big portions and the vibe of the place was very modern and cool. Project Tokyo is a great place for delicious japanese food if you are in and around Mermaid Beach. Would definitely hit this place again!
The intimacy continues in the service and food. There’s a polished, ‘invested’ European-style feel to the service, with Franz stopping for a casual chat, giving recommendations and treating each customer as though they are special.The food too is exceptional. With a modern Japanese-inspired range of share dishes, the menu provides headings to help us choose: Snacks and starters, Signature dishes, Gyoza, Tempura, Char grill, Nigiri and sashimi, Sushi rolls and Sweets. However, if you’re like us, we love almost all Japanese food, so the choice can be difficult.<br/ <br/ For that reason, choosing an Omakase Set Menu for the table is a great idea. Meaning ‘I’ll leave it up to you’, we follow the Japanese tradition of leaving the food and drink selection up to the chef. Fortunately, Project Tokyo has two omakase set menus priced at $39pp and $50pp, a third one in the making. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well, wine pairing an extra $35pp.
Delicious dining discovery!! Our new favourite place. We have eaten at Project Tokyo twice now. Both times we were blown away by the flavours of all the dishes ordered. We vowed that we would keep returning until we'd worked our way through the entire menu so that we could sample everything on offer. The difficulty is in deciding what NOT to order. Outstanding have been ALL of the sashimi dishes, the Chef's signature dish, the spinach salad with sesame dressing, duck spring rolls, gyozas (we've had the prawn and the pork) Japanese salt and pepper calamari, chicken karaage, vegetable tempura, wagyu beef skewers, grilled scallops, aburi sushi.... I realise now that I'm just going to be listing pretty much everything on the menu! Finish with the chocolate fondant, it is to die for.
