Slow, wrong orders, three quarters of an hours for a plate of pasta and a sweet which was anything but not ricotta! The quality of the food on the whole was ok but I wouldn't certainly come back there a second time when there are other places next to it equally worth trying.
Four of us ate a leisurely lunch here in midOctober. The restaurant was busy but not crowded, with some diners on the terrace and some inside. Service was prompt and attentive. We ate delicious tapas, and the portions were so generous that we could not finish them. The grand plain is impressive even without the vibrance of growing crops and may remind some of the Palouse in the northwestern United States. The hospitality of the owners made us feel warm and welcome. Parking is plentiful. We hope to return some day.
The original location of the restaurant was up the hill in Castelluccio but now that area is closed after the earthquake and the taverna moved to the spot down the hill where the most of the restaurants are located now. This area (Deltaplano) was built later after the recent sad events. It’s a bit hard to find to be honest and sort of confusing if it’s your first time (and it was for us). Also, we were late because of terrible traffic in Castelluccio (I was shocked how touristic it was! Much much more than I expected) even though we arrived so much earlier than planned. We tried to call the restaurant several times to warn them but nobody picked up. Not a big deal- when we found it, we still had our table on the terrace as requested. It had a spectacular view!!! The mountains, the fields, the flowers!!! Amazing! It was very hot on that day and even under the tent you could feel it but the view was so worth it! There is, of course, a dining room inside, but you gotta dine out if you have a chance! The restaurant was very busy and it took us a long while to get the menus. I got up myself and went to search for it. The order was served very slowly too. Too inattentive in my opinion. Good thing we didn’t have to rush or anything. The food was very good. Everything is typical there and even though we are from the same region (Umbria), we still managed to try new dishes for us (for example, farrecchiata- polenta from wild peas). We took local artisanal beer from lentils and beans to accompany the meal. Really nice. Great lunch consisting of good food and spectacular view!
