Some friends and I stopped by The Big Whiskey Porch for some drinks and beignets. It was a nice outdoor setting and a great place to hang out before or after you check out The Nauticus or other Downtown Norfolk attractions. Check it out!
Very much snack bar food and quality. Definitely not great food which perhaps should be expected for a museum restaurant. Fries were soggy, only gave a half a cup of soup but paid for a container of it, and forgot the chicken on my husbands salad. Gave 3 stars to be nice since it is in a museum so my expectations were not high. However, I think they really could do better and just to give you a heads up that might be better to walk down the street to another restaurant.
We had no idea what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised! Big Wisky Porch is a covered, outdoor bar-type situation nestled right beside Nauticus. Actually, you feel like you're going into Nauticus as you walk up, but the restaurant is to your left (parking is in the garage across the street . You order at a window, sit, and then get your food when your name is called. I was very happy with the cocktail selection, and they had a pretty broad menu. We got the lobster roll, bbq sandwich, and chili cheese dogs to split (highly recommend! . Prices were a little steep but fair considering you have a guaranteed view of the water. I definitely recommend checking them out, especially on a beautiful day! We will be back!
Amazing food quality considering they are not really a restaurant, rather more of a walk-up vendor attached to the Nauticus museum. The venue is outdoors with casual picnic table seating. The sake drinks are creative and tasty. We plan to return to sample more of the food items.
