Nouvelle - Norfolk

The menu was intriguing and our food was delicious and expertly cooked, but the atmosphere was lacking and took away from the overall dining experience. Little effort has been made to enhance the interior of the restaurant since it replaced the Grace St Grill. The dining space feels cramped, with tables positioned very close together. The small size of the room means there isn't enough background noise to have a private conversation without being overheard by neighboring tables. Additionally, our table was situated directly in the path of a wall heater set on high, making it uncomfortably warm throughout the evening. The staff was attentive and welcoming, but the overall experience could be greatly improved with some upgrades to the venue.

We discovered this restaurant through our son who is a food enthusiast and lives in another city. The food was amazing, although the menu was a bit small. It was a perfect option for a meal before going to the opera, as the service was quick and efficient. The salad we had was the best we've ever tasted! We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wine, so much so that we upgraded our order from a glass each to a bottle, and they happily accommodated our request. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.

We had a fantastic dinner at Nouvelle during our recent visit. Although they are still waiting for their ABC license, it was still a wonderful experience. They were out of some items, but the burger, pork belly, bean soup, chicken, and steak were all deliciously prepared. The service provided by the owner/chef was professional and enthusiastic. The prices were very reasonable. We can't wait to go back soon.

Little has been done to improve the interior since the takeover of Grace St Grill. The dining area is cramped, with tables very close to each other. Given the small size of the room, there is not enough ambient noise to keep a conversation without the 4 other tables in the immediate vicinity that listen to every word. We also sat up on the direct path of a wall-mounted heating unit, which for an unfortunately warm evening. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the entire experience would be significantly different if the venue was improved.
