Done up in Hawaiian-Japanese decor with dark woods and an island feel, it is a relaxing place that you don’t have to dress up for. Prices are reasonable mid twenties for mains and around $16 for cocktails to $8-10 for wines and beers. It’s not cheap, but won’t break the bank either. Portions however tend to be on the small side, and are just nice for small eaters like me and my daughter. For example, I easily polish off an arburi salmon main (5 thin slices of salmon avocado atop a small mound of sushi rice and a few salad leaves) or a poke bowl topped with raw salmon and veggies, whereas I am usually doggy-bagging half a pub meal for lunch next day. Those with heartier appetites like my son will need an entree as well. However, there are larger mains in the menu like a decent sized chicken katsu that is served with chips (or sushi rice) and coleslaw. If in doubt ask the friendly waitpersons for advice on the larger mains.
I ordered Pork spare ribs, cost $29.99 for six small ribs on chips with 2 day old coleslaw. Panko crumbed chicken was not even a full chicken breast filleted smallish with over cooked clumpy rice. Very tasty but not value for money.....rather go and have good old pub grub....Highly over rated
Really enjoyed this restaurant, great atmosphere, lovely decor and friendly staff. Food was fresh and delicious, it arrived quickly and we shared all the dishes. Particularly loved the salmon and rice dish.
I tried gyoza, mexican beach balls and hawaian poke octopus tartare. Everything tasty, spicy but also fresh. Carol our waiter was always smiling and she gave us very good advice on the food to choose. Dont forget to try the cocktail “sakerina”... you will think to be in Brazil for a second... 100%recommended
First time, and won't be the last, good casual dinning but was reasonably noisy as the place was busy (a good sign), some soft furnishings to soak up the noise wouldn't go astray. Dine with a group so you can share a range of dishes which all was very tasty. Service excellent and BYO corkage very reasonable at $12.
