The Charles Hotel - North Adelaide

We went to their bandroom to see Tony Joe White perform.  We had their Pizza Supreme to share prior to the show.  The Pizza was excellent, well cooked and loaded with toppings. They had specaials on the drinks at the bar too. Tha Manager, Megan is an excellently Customer focussed person and made us feel good about being there. Th entertainment was brilliant as was the service. I will definitely go back again.

Great parmigiana and chips! Big size meal! Everything was delicious and tasty! Friendly staff and good atmosphere!happy to go there again!!!

If you want to sit in an empty bar and get yelled at by an aggressive security guard this is the place for you.  I walked into The Charles Hotel to check on my friend I was really worried about, the bar was completely empty with all their customers in a room called 'The Disco'. I spoke to a security guard about helping me find my friend as it was an emergency, the security guard raised his voice and repeatedly told me I was not able to enter without paying $25. I understand that bars and venues have functions and events, however  this was a serious emergency and The Charles Hotel should hold a duty of care to any customers that are in their venue.  The security guard did not let me in even though I was willing to pay, to check on my friend and instead screamed for me to leave in front of all of his other staff because I questioned why he was raising his voice and being aggressive. He did not give me a chance to talk to the hotel manager about my concerns and emergency.  I have honestly never had an experience like this and will never be returning here again.

I have been to the Charles on numerous occasions for gigs, but last night had a meal for the first time.  This review is based solely on the food. I would not recommend the Charles for a meal.  I ordered the Salt and Pepper Squid, which was actually quite well cooked, but the serving of squid was tiny for the $26 price tag and they made up for this by loading my plate with chips. The side salad was also terrible.  I came away very unsatisfied and hungry. My friend ordered the Chicken Parma and it was actually burnt to blackness in places.  Once they had chopped away the burnt bits it was edible. We also ordered a bottle of the Pinot Noir for $35 and it was absolutely terrible.  Sadly the whole meal experience was disappointing and I would never eat there again.
