The afternoon tea was delicious, with tea served in lovely china cups. The place is full of character and despite a previous strange review, the couple running this well stocked little store were lovely, and neither had tracksuits or slippers on!
Had cream tea here there was nobody in the cafe but the lady sat us in the garden and we were the only ones lovely cream tea and nothing to much trouble definitely recommend
This is likely the finest village shop tea room in Dorset. They offer excellent coffee, cakes, and lunches at reasonable prices. The tea room is set in a beautiful sheltered garden, and the hosts Rick and Jan provide a warm welcome and are willing to accommodate any requests.
I am at a loss to understand why this couple are running a shop, let alone a tea room. The shop is dark, gloomy and freezing cold. Very little stock. A wait to get anyone to man the Post Office counter, then an even longer wait to get man to find out the cost of a bottle of water. Shuffling around in track suit bottoms, bloke went upstairs then came back with a calculator. After about 5 mins a price was decided upon. No apology, just an instruction to pull my mask even further over my nose. This, in an area where there is no Covid. I left. An unpleasant experience with absolutely no redeeming features. Shop is untidy, poorly stocked and completely unwelcoming. Never again.
I stumbled upon this hidden gem while passing through the small village of Fontmell Magna. The owners greeted me warmly and made me feel very welcome. I ordered a delicious Full English breakfast, which was beautifully prepared, along with a cup of tea and toast. I left feeling very satisfied and already looking forward to my next breakfast visit! Thank you once again.
