Brilliant village pub with a fascinating connection to the past. Good selection of beers and friendly staff. Plenty of seating inside and to the frontage outside. The original building has flagstone floors, even incorporating part of a headstone from the church graveyards next door. Sunday roast was one of the best.
Excellent food. Sunday roast amazing. Well worth the visit. Friendly staff.
The food here was good with extremely generous portions (the 'lighter portions ' options are about the size of a normal meal elsewhere! , though the cask beers were sadly quite vinegary, like they needed a bit of flushing through. Dog-friendly and nice atmosphere.
Beautiful country pub, with excellent walks, history and countryside. Food is delicious and cars can be parked at front. Once a year the pub is central to the Ashover festival well worth a visit.
