Instead, we were given two instant coffees without a refund. The place was filthy, with litter on the floor and dirty tables. The service was awful.
It’s rustic, it’s not polished, but if you want a drink and some lovely cake, soup, quiche, ploughman’s or a sandwich on your country walk then this is a lovely little stop! Popular with cyclists, and dog owners (you can only sit outside or in the ‘bike shed’ if you have a dog) there’s also chickens, and horses on the adjacent farm which kids and big kids alike will enjoy. Ita very cute and I imagine much needed in a little village like Whitwell.
If you're out for a stroll in the countryside or going for a bike ride, this charming tea room is the ideal spot to take a break and enjoy a cup of tea. Unique craft shops and rustic decorations give this tea room a special touch.
After hearing about improvements, we decided to return to this restaurant with our family. However, we were left disappointed as the entire place smelled bad and looked rundown. We felt sorry for the three hens that were cooped up in a messy enclosure, one of which appeared to be partially featherless. Overall, there was nothing special here and not much for families to do.
Called in on Sunday with my partner, very rustic and charming, Tea just came in a mug and not a pot. Filling in sandwich (Egg Mayo) left a lot to be desired, Salad that came with sandwich also paltry.
