Well, that was certainly humiliating, and it also marked the first time in my life that my partner and I spontaneously became invisible. Here's the scenario, so you can form your own assessment. The cafe is quite tiny, accommodating just a handful of diners, and it was mostly empty when we arrived. We chose to order a take-away meal, and as we entered, there was just one other person ahead of us looking at the menu. A server appeared from the kitchen, and asked the person ahead of us if they'd been attended to yet. The person ahead of us told the server that they were just looking at the menu, so the server walked into the dining room, ignoring us. The person ahead of us then left the restaurant, and the server then appeared from the dining room, went to the kitchen, then passed us on the way out back to the dining room again...like we were invisible. A couple then entered, and the server passed all of us again on her way to the kitchen. On her way back to the dining room, she asked the couple if they'd like to be seated. The female of the couple pointed out to the server that we were ahead of them. I told the couple that it was okay, as we were ordering takeaway. Again, the server didn't even acknowledge we were there. Another couple entered, and more waiting ensued. Moments later, a different server appeared, ignored us, and asked the couple if they would like a table. The couple told the server that they would like to order a takeaway meal, and were then ushered into the dining room to place their order. That was 15 minutes of being completed ignored, and 5 others not, in a mostly empty restaurant. It was also clear from the beginning that the servers could see who was waiting in the foyer. It was also clear that they chose to completely ignore us. Who knows why. We won't be back.
Lovely little establishment with large windows and outdoor seating makes the view of North Rustico Harbour amazing. Cozy and clean interior, friendly staff, family owned (daughter is one of the waitresses), and great homemade meals. We picked outdoor seating and somehow were the only ones there which the waitress stated was truly odd but definitely to our benefit. Gave for a quiet and relaxing meal, prompt meal delivery, and great waitress attention. We both enjoyed our appetizer, meals, and shared a homemade dessert. Yum! Will keep this on our list for next year's trip.
Meh! Don't waste your time with average when there's so much good around. We were enticed by the patio and lobster burger, but there are nicer patios and the lobster burger was disappointingly no more than a small lobster roll on a burger bun for $27. Service was good, buy beer selection sub par!
The place was slammed. It's a small seaside place. My wife and I waited for 25 minutes to be seated. We were taken to the patio outside overlooking the water. (The host said the best seat in the house. We were seated for 25 minutes and saw 2 other groups seated, drink orders and appetizers delivered to them. Our server Kaylee was missing in action for our entire wait. Another table was waiting to get their bill. She appeared cleared that table and totally ignored us. We had no choice but to get up and leave. Can't review the food as we never even had a sniff of any. Overall our visit to PEI was amazing but the downside and our experience for the entire month of July was restaurants overbooked or understaffed. Too bad because foodies should be able to experience the seafood that is so bountiful here.
