Hamaei Sushi - North Vancouver

The fish was so fresh and the service was lovely. Highly recommend on stacking up on nigiri as fish quality here is beyond your typical sushi restaurant!

Still the same decor and everything, but just feels different after the original Hamaei owner sold the place.Its a Japanese sushi restaurant but you hear Korean being spoken now, nothing wrong with that just the vibe is different.Food wise I guess its still about the same as it was.Hope they use Japanese soy sauce , the soy sauce they have now is too salty and not suitable for sushi.

One of the best Japanese restaurants ever. Never had sashimi like this before plus friendly staff. Definitely worth the higher prices. My only regret is that I live across the continent from here.

Excellent sushi! We were really impressed with the sushi here. The restaurant is more of a hole in the wall in an assuming strip mall but don’t let that fool you. The dishes were incredible and very fresh. Restaurant was packed and turnover is fast with reservations. Lots of take out. We were very impressed and it was some of the best sushi we have had.

This is not the same Hamaei. Staff and taste/look of the food are all different, likely change of owners; prices are similar. Even the imitation crab in the California roll was not as good (tasted a bit fishy). The don looked different (you will know what I mean if you've had it here before).Ordered dinner takeout for pickup, was told the food will be ready 40 minutes ended up waiting an extra 30 mins at the restaurant.
