My friends came over from Kings Heath and Heighters Heath but said it was well worth the distance and would be going again. Knew the Fig and Olive wouldn’t let me down. Thank you.
Went for Sunday Lunch. Not too busy when we arrived and there were plenty of young people waiting on but they seemed more interested in chatting by the till than engaging with diners. The Manager was around but this didn't seem to make any difference. Got served eventually but the waitress did not offer a smile or any kind of enthusiasm, just had a bored expression. Food good but not as good as on a previous occasion. Beef was not as tender and not that much of it for the price. Wasn't asked if we wanted more drinks by our waitress so called her over once my sons said they didn't want another drink she scooted off without waiting to see if my husband and I wanted one so needed to flag down another waitress. Noticed other diners needing to ask for menus etc despite lots of servers being around, they were just standing chatting. This is a lovely place but the experience on Sunday was not comparable to previous occasions. Won't rush back for a while but will probably give it another go but when it is quieter as the service and food seemed better then.
Booked a table at 11am for 3 people last Sunday but did not get served until midday which was a lengthy wait. Otherwise a very nice meal.
My Daughters 18th Birthday breakfast. We always love breakfast at the Fig and Olive and to be fair today was no exception. Unfortunately we’d bought balloons from the shop next door and arranged for them to be on the tables but they’d been forgotten. A lovely bouquet of flowers were given as an apology and the balloons were soon with us. End of problem. My partner asked for no ‘Blue Cheese’ and no cheese at all came with the continental breakfast and we had to ask for butter and preserves. We also had to ask for cutlery and then spoons for the cereal too. We asked for tea for three and only tea for two came out. All the above are minor things that don’t usually happen but were disappointing as this was a special occasion. However, it wouldn’t put me off from coming to this lovely place to eat, I just didn’t tip today.
The experience didn’t get off to a good start. The female matre’d I felt was quite dismissive and unwelcoming as we arrived. Once we got past her the meal and service was good
