I ordered the California burger with a slice of pickle and a chocolate shake. My husband, the roast beef dip. It took a bit of time to get our meals, and both my sweet potato fries and my husband's fries weren't hot, they were dry and barely warm. His were colder than mine, so he couldn't eat them. It's as though they were put on our plates first, before the sandwiches were ready. I didn't get the pickle. Our server Eleni never came to ask if everything was alright. Half way through our meals, she came over & very quickly said "I didn't make your shake, do you still want it?" I was kind of surprised with her unfriendly abruptness & lack of apology, & she repeated herself fast, so I said um, I guess not, & asked for the pickle at least. She had forgot it, and did return with 2 slices. I was bummed not to have the shake, but not confident that it would even taste good, considering they couldn't get the fries right. I guess I saved calories and money. My burger was fine, nothing memorable. The salad was nice, although she didn't ask me what kind of dressing I wanted, just gave me a vinaigrette. My husband didn't comment on his beef dip. Our waters were never refilled & they did get empty. When we were paying the bill, she commented that the burger didn't come with pickle, but she told the cook her customer wanted one, so she got me one. As though, what, she did me a huge favour? Um, hardly. :/ We were there on Sunday at 2:00. Won't be returning and I can't recommend it.
Casual diner, with lots of options including a popular kids portion of the menu. The service is always pleasant and fast. Great coffee.
The only reason I didn't give Steve's one star is because our server was lovely, and because my friend liked his omelet. It says on the menu that the French Toast comes with "real maple syrup". What we got was fake maple syrup. In Canada especially, this is an outrage. I didn't use it, so essentially what I got for 10 dollars plus tax and tip was 3 slices of bread dipped in egg. There was no fruit to go along with it, no nothing. Except 2 packets of whipped butter, and fake maple syrup. The coffee was black-colored hot water, and the cream for the coffee was fake cream, another no-no in Canada. Never again.
I have passed the restaurant many times. I have always heard good things and they have been doing business since 1946.AWESOME! We went for breakfast and were certainly not disappointed. Fluffy, plate sized pancakes. All sorts of side breakfast meats to choose from and great coffee. You better be hungry, they are not shy with portions and very reasonable with prices,
