It was busy as a coach load had arrived, but by using the pre-ordering machine our order was swiftly compiled and the staff very friendly. We sat outside on a bench in the sunshine, but inside was clean.
Rude service by who got out order wrong. Asked for an iced macchiato and got a tiny hot coffee. Paid £3.50 for the worlds smallest ‘macchiato’ which was just a double espresso. The lady said ‘oh do you usually go to Starbucks’ so she knows what drink we were expecting. Threw it in the bin.
Costa Coffee consistently offers good coffee, but the food options can be inconsistent. During my visit, I tried the cheese and mushroom toastie which I enjoyed. The cafe was clean and not too crowded, which was a positive aspect. However, the service was a bit slow.
I typically go to Costa for my White Americano, but this time I decided to try something different and ordered the tasty Tuna Salad for only £5.49. The portion was so generous that I couldn't finish it all.
I stopped by this restaurant for a meeting and went to the Costa cafe located in the Northbound direction. As someone with a background in Training Development, I was appalled by the behavior of one of the staff members and the wastage of resources. It was clear that he was still learning, but seeing him incorrectly tamp the coffee grounds into the holder, struggle to fit it into the machine, and dump unused grounds into the waste unit multiple times was disappointing. His body language indicated a lack of enthusiasm for making coffee, and at one point, one of the other staff members had to intervene and take over without much communication between them. Another customer waiting for his coffee also mentioned the issue, so it wasn't just me. The restaurant was quiet, so there was no pressure on the other staff members who could have easily provided guidance and support. Instead, their body language showed frustration, and I suspect there were underlying issues beyond just being a new employee. The coffee was typical of Costa, but I doubt I would return to this location when there are other options available nearby.
