The Ritz Cafe - Northport

We arrived at 5:30 for our reservation. The restaurant wasn't busy, but the drink service was a bit slow. The food was just average.

A perfect combination of Cheers (everyone may not know your name, but you never feel like an outcast or stranger) and, because of the complexity and perfection of the food, your mother 's kitchen on Sunday dinner. Yes, I do understand that that is anextremely weird combination! BUT .. I have Never seen anyone enter the Ritz that wasn 't treated as if they hadn 't been there 100times before .. and as if they had been missed for every single day that they hadn 't been in. For example: I met a new waitperson tonight that made me feel as if I knew her for life, when we had only said Hello for the first time. Yeah .. like Isaid .. kinda weird. But seriously folks .. Even if you 're not into the truly personal service of their staff, you MUST comehere for the food !! I have been doing my best to work my way through the menu .. multiple friends have been dragged along, inorder to try and check off more options .. and by dragged, I mean that if they 've joined me once, they ask time and again whenI 'm coming back, so they can help me evaluate the food and drink options .. lol I 'm afraid to tell you my favorites, because Imay never find a seat, or my favorite food options available again .. In Other Words .. my heart was broken when I traveled herefor their Escargot and they had sold out earlier that day .. mind you, it was a Monday night and the delivery was scheduled forthe next day. .. so 24hrs later, I would have been able to indulge in a unique and exquisite variation of escargot onportobellos .. but on this night, I had to chose another option .. BUT AZ always .. and this is a BIG BUT!! .. I found out thattheir Chicken Pot Pie was just freshly made and added to the Special Menu and all I can say it that it was so perfect, thatthe trip was worth it!! You see, I 'm not a 'local ' .. so for me to stop by the Ritz, it takes some planning .. but Again, all Ican say is that it 's Definitely worth it! Really friendly restaurant Food was great. Worth a visit.

I was very disappointed with my experience. I made a reservation for Saturday at 5 PM and was informed that we would need to finish by 6:30. We accepted that, parked our car, and walked in just four minutes later. To our surprise, our table had been given to two women who arrived at the same time. We were offered the option to sit at the bar and eat, which we felt was quite unfair, especially with our young daughter in tow. Unfortunately, our concerns were met with indifference; the staff seemed unconcerned and it might be worth considering a different career path for those who lack the necessary skills for restaurant hospitality. If you're thinking of dining here and hope to rely on a reservation, I would advise against it, as they don’t seem to hold any real value. If the restaurant ultimately fails, they might blame it on COVID, but the real issues lie with the unprofessional management and staff.

While the appetizers were tasty, we had to clean our own plates to make space for the main courses, which were disappointing. The two steaks came out cold, the steak tidbit sandwich was inconsistently served with half cold and half warm portions, and the scallops had a rubbery texture. The older waitress never approached our table to check on our meals or to see if we needed anything. The young waitress did her best, looking embarrassed and apologizing for the lack of service. When it came time to pay, the older waitress silently dropped the bill on our table and then picked it up, only for me to discover they had charged me an extra $13 on my $370 tab. I seriously considered not leaving a tip, but ultimately decided against it and left a tip that was double the tax, totaling $60. I can confidently say I will never return to this restaurant again.
