Cabosse - Northumberland

Visited about 8 years ago and always remembered the chocolates which were fabulous. When revisiting Warkworth few days ago this was the first place we visited. What a disappointment! Only 3 or 4 flavours of chocolates, not the dozens we could choose from previously. We bought a selection but frankly they all tasted the same and one would be hard pressed telling which was which. Don't bother go to Hotel Chocolate, their chocolates are far superior! Won't go there again, very sad.

I read reviews of this place before I came to stay for a week. ‘Best hot chocolate in the world’ was a bold statement by one reviewer. We were warmly welcomed into the shop and looked at all the chocolatey options (and a small selection of dog gifts). Hot chocolate was ordered and we took it outside into the cold and tasted it. There are not enough superlatives for how good this hot chocolate was. Perfect consistency, fantastic flavour and served at the right temperature to warm the insides. The drink was a clear 10/10. I am a hot chocolate snob and concur it’s the best I’ve ever tasted. Staff lovely and dogs allowed into the front of the shop as you order. Do not miss this place if staying here or passing through.

I thoroughly enjoyed popping in for amazing fruit tarts at Cabosse. The lady in the shop was extremely helpful and packed my cake with biodegradable cutlery for me to eat it al fresco.

Luckily I’m staying up the road this week. Bought rum baba today absolutely perfect, will be buying at least 1 per day for holiday. Go treat yourself.
