I fully understand why. £20 for two courses is fantastic value. Started with prawn cocktail then lamb roast, which the lamb was cooked to perfection and the veg was oh so tasty. Top top it all the gravy was just fab. I most certainly will give a rating of 10/10 for the food. This will be a more regular visit for us. Please, please do yourself a favor and try the manor inn.
This was a lunch stop on the way to Edinburgh. Great hospitality with a warm greeting from the young lady behind the bar. The food was the biggest surprise with proper home-cooked pub grub. I had the homemade chicken and mushroom pie, beautiful flaky pastry pie crammed full of chicken, served with proper chips and peas. My wife had the mushroom risotto which had clearly been lovingly cooked as this is a dish that needs to be carefully watched during preparation. Highly recommended especially if you need a break while travelling on the A68. We’ll definitely stop here again.
We stopped here as part of our C2C ride. A short distance off the official C2C route, it was well worth the detour. A family run establishment, we received a very warm welcome. Quickly shown our room and the secure storeroom for our bikes. The room has a great shower, perfect after some of the local climbs. The food was great. We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch, standard service is until 1700hrs on a Sunday. Breakfast in the morning was served from 0900hrs. This would have been a bit late for our planned start for the next leg of the C2C. No problem the owner served us an early continental breakfast, all we ever have.
Visited for a meal with my partner. I had Cumberland sausage on mashed potato topped with caramelised onions in gravy, washed down with a pint of John Smiths, which was all very good. And my partner had well cooked lamb with mashed potato and gravy accompanied with a glass of Malbec, which she also thoroughly enjoyed. We had intended on going for a cheese board after but the mains were such generous portions that we couldn’t manage. Service was top notch. Would visit again if we were here longer.
So disappointed with what I had heard was lovely pub grub. Frozen chips and a huge battered cod missing the cod. Pointed it out the lovely serving staff but it was still on bill. The chips were meant to be triple cooked chips but tasted exactly like frozen chips. Won’t be back and couldn’t recommend. Such a shame
