My first misstep was asking if I could have French fries with my eye fillet sandwich. I was told they didn’t have a frying device available, which was unexpected. My second mistake was requesting my eye fillet to be cooked medium rare. I was informed that wasn't possible and that the steak would be well-cooked and the best I’d ever tasted. Unfortunately, that turned out to be untrue; the steak was dry, overcooked, and excessively salty. I could only manage to eat half of the sandwich. The situation escalated when I mentioned my dissatisfaction to someone I believe was the owner while paying the bill. His reaction was quite hostile; he exclaimed that if I didn’t like the food, he didn’t want my money, and he literally threw my wife's payment back at us. She placed the money back on the counter, and we decided to leave. This unpleasant incident left my wife upset for the remainder of the day, and I can't recommend Cafe Bella based on this experience.
This café was a delightful surprise! The coffee was excellent, and the food was delicious with generous portions. The standout feature was the incredibly friendly staff, who were courteous and attentive throughout our visit—definitely among the best service we've experienced in New South Wales. We will definitely return on our next visit. Hopefully, the road closures to Kangaroo Valley will be resolved soon so that local businesses aren’t too negatively impacted.
We quickly reviewed the menu and decided on the Loral special, French toast, and a croissant with jam, along with two coffees and a homemade orange juice. Before we knew it, our food arrived, and wow! The croissant was the most captivating, crispy, and airy one I’ve ever tasted. The Loral special was a perfect presentation on the plate, fresh and crisp with just the right balance of salt and pepper. The French toast was made with thick brioche, soaked in egg batter, and paired with speck, maple syrup, and banana—it was an incredible combination! We also ordered a speck and egg roll, but chose to omit the mayonnaise and BBQ sauce, and it was still delicious with a lovely soft and fresh flavor. This café is a must-visit for anyone in and around Kangaroo Valley, but just make sure to arrive on time—otherwise, you might miss out!
Arrived on a Saturday morning was able to sit outside with three people. Order coffee, juice and x2 Loral Special and Kung Fu Eggs. Didn't have almond milk as an option for coffees which was strange. Service was friendly and fast. Food was fresh and tasty. There is a 12% surcharge on weekends. So it made $35 each for breakfast. Nice local vibe and good selection of food. Great local produce and bread inside. Pastry cabinet was amazing. Best option on the main street.
