The menu is small and changed monthly to offer seasonal food and the wine list is small but beautifully suited to the menu. Tables outside on the pavement made for a lovely evening in the May sunshine. Highly recommended.
I found this little restaurant wandering through the streets of Nuremberg and it caught my eye immediately. Tables are tucked on to a little terraced area on a small residential street - the setting is just delightful. The menu looked appealing and luckily I managed to secure a table for the next night. The reviews are mixed so I wasn't really sure what we would get. Fortunately my instincts paid off and we had a wonderful dinner. The menu is limited as everything is freshly prepared by the chef. It's delicious home cooking with beautiful fresh ingredients. Our main course of veal was just delicious as was our dessert. We liked everything about this little restaurant - the food, the setting, the service. All in all we had a delightful evening and only wish there were more little places like this. Bravo to the lovely chef who came and introduced himself after the meal.
We arrived at 8:10 and the steak arrived at 9:55. We had to ask several times for our sides. I ordered medium-well and got served a medium-rare... Not coming back!
Located in a little mid-terrace house next to the castle, it takes a bit of finding (try the Wanderers bar round the corner for a pre-dinner drink). It's a very small place (6 tables?) but if you know your steak, it's an absolute treat. We shared the porterhouse which was cooked to perfection. Heavy char on the outside but beautifully rare and juicy on the inside. The fillet half had obviously been removed early to ensure a perfect finish. Wine choices are limited but excellent (we had and phenomenal Zinfandel). Service was perfect and it was an all-round wonderful experience. It's not cheap, a sharing steak was $72 but it's worth it. You'll definitely find cheaper in Nürnberg but I very much doubt you'll find better.
The restaurant is located in a very narrow medieval half-timbered house which is very cool. The service was good, but the food was just average and way over priced. I paid €119 (without tip) for a tough steak and a salmon dinner.
