An approx. 7km walk almost flat path with occasional ups and downs is a good exercise to feel hunger when you reach the rifugio. Today there was only one menu, a plate of starter with locally produced hams, salamis and cheese then Polenta (normal or concia cooked with local cheese and butter) served with either sausage or spezzatino (saucy meat stew). It includes water, wine, sweet and coffee. Genuine and delicious polenta cooked in traditional way served with equally tasty long cooked meat or sausage cooked in tomato sauce. Good quality of wine and sweets. Service is organized, quick and staff are very kind. The location is just wonderful. A magnificent view of the Alps, pleasant sound of snow melting mountain stream runs near by and breathtaking sceneries of fields with wild flowers... This is the place where you can spend a great Sunday! Recommend reservation if you go during weekends; the rifugio is always full.

My wife and I went for a winter hike in the Saint-Barthelemy valley in Valle d’Aosta, Italy. The Magia’ mountain hut is located almost at the end of the narrow valley, which you can reach from the small Praz village after an easy 1.5-hour hike either on foot during summer or with snowshoes during the winter season. The path to the Magia’ is gorgeous and wild, surrounded by the stunning Alps Mountains and white waters running down the valley. During the hike, we had a chance to see a mountain fox, and, the nice dogs of the hut welcomed us when arriving. The hut is newly renovated (renovation works ended beginning of 2016 and has a cozy atmosphere, with a giant ceramic wood-stove in the smaller dining room (you can warm up against it in the cold season… . We had lunch with polenta concia, handmade gnocchi with blue cheese from Valle d’Aosta, all freshly made from the Magia’ cook. The managers are very kind and they showed us the many rooms and the dorms, all renovated in a typical mountain style. A detail: a room has a double bunk bed for two couples… really cool. We are definitely considering the hut for a longer summer hike to explore the surrounding Alps Mountains.
Bel rifugio. Ho mangiato bene (polenta concia) ad un prezzo onesto.
Un po' distratta ma ancora bella e bella atmosfera. Credo di aver dimenticato qualcosa, come se non fosse entrato in niente.
