We experienced none of the problems with inexperienced wait staff that others have reported, in fact our server was knowledgeable and offered insightful meal suggestions, was attentive and worked with us in getting the bill properly disposed so we could use a groupon. The food was flavorful and the portion size was appropriate. I ordered the rainbow roll while my lunch companion ordered a green devil roll. Both rollsvwere wonderful. The miso was a little bland but I still appreciated it. While the decor is not a major part of the dining experience I have to admit it was quite beautiful. The room was done in dark woods, paper lights and red faux leather seat cushions.
Visited again... same rating. Overall... delicious food but pricey. Ordered soup, calamari, 4 rolls (spicy tuna, burr ridge, and two other which I can 't remember; see pix). All delicious. My favorite was the Burr Ridge Roll. The service was great. One thing I have to mention... We got there at noon, the time threel restaurant opened. It was obvious that they just mopped the floors. Although it was good to know that they mopped their floors... Mopping should be a lot earlier than right when they open. Why? The floors were so slippery... Law suit waiting to happen (no wet floor sign). Also, there was a strong smell of the cleaning chemicals... It made me dizzy.
OMS (Oh My SUSHI! White Sox Roll and Green Devil Roll are INCREDIBLE. Had a Groupon, always good for a first try, and it was a great experience. Thai iced tea was watery at first and the server was a bit nonplussed at first about how to fix it, but they made a new batch and he replaced it. Spicy scallop hand roll was pretty simple, could have used some avocado or cucumber, but the scallops were real scallops, not the teeny ones, and it was just the right amount of zesty. I can pack away the sushi but just those 3 rolls were enough; very generous servings and not with too much rice, plenty of fish. I will be back. NOTE: this seems to be an old review that never posted, my first here. Fourth visit on Monday did not go very well, although food was still good. Server communication issues regarding groupons specials, manager who lectured us (after saying I just want to give you heads up for the 5TH TIME when it was clear it was a server error and that we understood, it is officially a lecture, and to-go order of green curry screwed up AGAIN. Manager agreed to free curry order next time (it is really delicious even though they left out the CHICKEN this time. Will give it one more chance. Really like the food.
I am traveling for business and was in the mood for Asian flavors. Dao let me double dip, with a very flavorful spicy scallop roll and then a very delicious Shrimp Pad Thai. Service was good, it was a slow night and I ate in the bar area, it is well stocked and on my next visit (yes, I will be back) I will check the skills of the bartender.
I had high expectations coming here and was disappointed. I've been wanting to eat sushi for a couple of weeks so decided to come here as I was in the area. I ordered a rainbow roll, as I order this one almost everywhere I go. I also tried the Osaka maki roll. Both of these were made loose. If I grabbed them too tight with my chop sticks, the insides would come out, but I had to as they weren't tight to begin with. Some pieces were too big and as I took a bite, the rest of the piece would fall apart. Fail. My husband had the beef teriyaki. He did get a big bowl of rice! Beef was good. Teriyaki sauce was not so overpowering. Service was good, other than getting my entree 5 minutes before my husband's entree. Not sure why they did that. Not sure that I would come back. :
