I used to work as a cook. the quality of eating in this small restaurant belongs to my opinion to one of the best over the whole bay. cordial gratitude to the entire staff and the chef, that is not easy to lift off, especially about the many dishes I tasted here. to be fair I am not Cambodian, so I cannot speak with authenticity, although others claim that it meets this standard.
This family-run restaurant has a long legacy at the broadway edge of oakland chinatown. they really fought through the pandemic. they deserve and need their paragliding to achieve this. I just ordered the aubergine with tamarind sauce and the battambang special stew (catfish, prawns and tofu in a black pfefferspot). both were excellent and full of taste. the order was finished in 15 minutes, and I put the order by 18 o'clock. I swear, I wanted to take pictures of everything, but I've stuffed everything in my mouth as soon as I came home and forgot! I promised to eat half the meal tomorrow, but I really want to eat everything today.
Very friendly, good vegetarian options (let them know that they can replace the fish sauce if needed) very good food. I also say that it is authentic, what this in my book must be one!
This place is seriously good. We got their omelette stuffed with beans and shrimp, the green bean special, and I personally had their banana leaf-cooked catfish. The first two were very solid. My main dish was absolutely incredible. The flavor in the fish was so strong, and went so well with the Angkor beer. The price for everything was a bit high, but the flavor definitely backed that up. This is definitely one of my new favorites!
