George Walt's - Oakland

This place feels like the most upscale dive bar I've ever visited. The atmosphere is incredibly laid-back, and everyone here is really friendly. You should definitely check it out!

This is a super friendly, laid-back neighborhood sports bar that has a classic dive vibe. It features billiards, a separate food counter serving burgers and similar fare, and TVs showing the game, so fans of all teams will feel at home. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the patrons are friendly. The drink options are simple but satisfactory, so it's not the place for elaborate cocktail orders. The decor includes linoleum floors, high-top tables, and a community seating style where you might end up sharing a table with someone new. I really enjoy it here, but it’s not a spot for a romantic date if you're looking to impress.

I wish we lived just a few blocks from this restaurant. In fact, I think I'll start looking for a place nearby!

The service at this bar is excellent, with a friendly staff that makes it feel like a true neighborhood hangout. The drinks I order are consistently good, albeit a bit on the expensive side (as is the case these days), but they are strong, which I appreciate. As for the food, one day we were hungry and decided to order a burger with onion rings and a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. My partner's burger was grilled to perfection—definitely not greasy like some other burger joints. It was crispy, well-seasoned, and came with all the toppings you could want, including tomatoes at no extra charge. The onion rings were crispy and delicious. Meanwhile, the chicken sandwich was incredibly moist, packed with a variety of spices, and juicy without a soggy or dry coating. It was simply delightful. The sweet potato fries were also crispy and tasty. Overall, I’ve found my new favorite spot!
