And especially a toddler should not present a problem for the gastronomy. I listened to myself and read some pages on the Internet. External view In the end, we chose “The Lens” as the first restaurant. Ambience The location is somewhat outside the city centre; it remembers an old industrial area. And the “KrebsMühle” is also a collection of various companies, shops and cultural institutions. The building looks quite impressive from the outside. We climbed the stairs to the restaurant. The large terrace in front of the restaurant also looks inviting. The good impression is also preserved inside. The tables have a proper distance from each other. So we could sit comfortably and relaxed. The flower decoration in the square was extremely tasteful and fresh. Since there is also a gallery, pieces from the crafts were also exhibited table cleanliness Everything was well kept in order. Sanitary level and good to reach. Even a changing table for toddlers is available. Clean and well maintained toilet facilities. But here nothing special; but everything like soap, towel etc. exists. Service The ladies were all friendly and helpful. The boss – I guess – has the most idea. It can say something about food and drinks and also recommend wines. The other forces have to ask. A few “special wishes” like other supplements or a “children’s plate” can be fulfilled without any problems. Everyone is struggling and acting empathically and engaged. The map(s) The dishes are seasonal and regional – with hints of Indian and Asian directions. Also vegan and vegetarian is quite represented. A fresh, small but varied map. The tasting food mixed appetizer plate with four different “laciers” – 11,50 € appetizer Two fried balls, probably on lenses or Kichererbsen base had been enriched with vegetables, first fell into my eye. They each touched a bright or a red sauce. These were slightly spiced and reminded me of garlic and tomato. This gave the balls a little more taste; because already here I noticed that salt and spices have been used in the kitchen sparingly or in homeopathic doses. In addition, there was a couscous composition, some smoked ham, inlaid paprikaschote, fresh cheese, green olives, a tomato and a slightly soft story covered with a red tip on the plate. That was all edible, perhaps even healthy – but something boring and uninspiring for my feeling. The Indian cuisine offers many possibilities for rounding or feasting – not to mention Italian Antipasti Happen. Children's Plate Chicken Carving with Bratkartoffels – 6,50 € It was not on the map – but it was prepared. Pommes are not in the restaurant, but roast potatoes. Our grandchild has eaten from the meat and was satisfied. Some potatoes were also sampled. Most of the sauce has attracted interest in a small peel. She had a clue to ketchup with some curry for me – quite interesting. Ayurveda Vegetables and Tofu “with pepp”, roasted rice and tomatoes Chutney 13,50 € Vegetable Curry The dish recalled an Indian curry. The son-in-law was happy with it. Filled chicken breast strips and fresh mixed salad – 16,50 € filled chicken breast That was an extra daily dish. The chest was filled with blanched spinach and mozzarella pieces. Below was a tomato sauce. A large slice of rice was still on the plate. The best but was the supplement salad. Vegetable strips and herbs were mixed here and had received a tasty dressing. Even after a few days in review, this component of the main course in my eyes was really successful. Taste was present and spice was worked in. Ente – Pink roasted duck breast on cassis sauce with potato gratin and Romanesco 22,50 € duck The duck was exemplary in the appearance: light redstaroms outside, inside pink, even the skin was not stubborn. Unfortunately, the meat was a bit tough. The sauce fits perfectly, but the fruit note is not especially in my memory. The Gratin was neat. The potatoes were soft and only slightly baked. The Kohlgemüse had a good consistency, but was very naturally kept in taste. A tomato was slightly swung and showed her aromas neatly. The many thyme branches had been raw and not cooked and therefore only looked good. Without transferring the typical taste to the dish, they made no sense for me. Berries Tiramisu – 7,50 € Tiramisu The portion was powerfully large and could have supplied several people. The biscuit discs were soaked with juice (without alcohol and therefore juicy. The cream tasted for Him and Strawberry. Below the filling was brighter than above, because two different flavors had been used. As a conclusion, there was a compote of other berries. Chocolate buns were still in play. Caramelized walnuts and a yoghurt sauce completed the dish. There was also some mint on the edge. Overall the dessert was powerful and saturating, but it tasted really good. Mousse au Chocolat – 6,00 € Mousse This dessert was also a daily recommendation. The court was presented in a glass. Below was the dark chocolate and on top a bright creamy cream. A buffalo mint was also not missing. Well done. But here the kitchen had given a sip of alcohol to the mousse. The brandy taste almost overtoned the chocolate tones. Beverages Selters 0,75l – 5,10 € Will Bräu alcohol-free 0,5l 3,80 € Canforrales Tempranillo La Mancha 0.2 5,20 € Espresso – 2,20 € Conclusion 3 – if it results. I see plus points in the friendly, facing service. The facility was also appealing and the equipment for small children was quite good. But in my eyes, the food lacked some spicing and harmony. (1 – certainly not again, 2 – hardly again, 3 – if it results again, 4 – happy again, 5 – absolutely again – after “Kuechenreise” Date of visit: 24.09.2017 – evening – four adults and a child
