Off Duty Tavern - Ocala

We stopped in here our first night in our new home, which is walking distance. I am very happy we made the decision to come here first. The employees and fellow customers were so friggin awesome and we fell in love! Everyone was so welcoming and shared everything we needed to know about Ocala. There are so many positive attributes about this place. It is a mom pop place, the owners have been serving the community for years, the food is unique and amazing, and the staff are the cherry on top! The place is always clean and well kept. There are dart boards, plenty of tvs to watch sports, and there is even live music on Fridays and Saturdays. There are two sides of the business-one side is considered the lounge and the other side is all restaurant seating. The lounge area has the music, darts, and bar. There are also several tables and comfy seating. There are an abundance of beers and wines to choose from. I want to say there are about 15 beers on tap and about 20 beers in bottle form. There is also plenty of liquor to choose from. We have met basically everyone that works here and met Craig, one of the owners. Cam is the assistant manager and also tends bar. We usually sit at the bar so we have interacted with him the most. Cass and Cassie (yes, two different servers) are there almost every time we visited . They are usually busy serving tables but always make it a point to stop and chat with us. The kitchen staff sometimes pass through as well so we try to inform them of how great the food is and they are super grateful. So the food...we have had so many items off the menu and have yet to try something we did not love. The most unique item is the Brussels sprouts I would say. I never had them with bleu cheese and if you have read some of my reviews, several of them involved bleu cheese lol. They were so DAMN GOOD!!! It also contains their spicy candied bacon, which in itself is amazeballs! Their salmon is the best I EVER had, hands down! It is served with mashed potatoes and green beans (my favorite veg) but sadly only served on Fridays. We are so happy we found this place and we come here at least three times each week since we have been in Ocala. I highly recommend this restaurant and bar. It is a hidden gem but deserves to be put on blast! Come visit and say hello-I'm sure we will be there at the bar!

We had a great waitress, Cassidy S. She was efficient and extremely friendly and down-to-earth. The atmosphere here is really relaxing, and we had Friday night entertainment who were awesome! And of course, the food here is abundant and outstanding!

Food is amazing. Wonderful service! Had salad, burgers, fries, fried cheese. Everything is made from scratch and it is awesome. Highly recommend stopping in! It was very clean and welcoming to either grab a quick bite or lounge for hours. 10 gold stars!

Stopped for lunch on our road trip through town. Quaint little place with nice looking bar in a strip plaza. Food was pretty good. We enjoyed a patty melt, a chicken sandwich, and fish and chips. The fried chicken sandwich was cooked perfectly, as was the patty melt and the chipotle mayo sauce was a highlight. The highlight of the whole meal, however, was the bottomless tavern fries that came out hot and fresh before we even finished the first order! My fish and chips was standard and the piece of fish it came with came out dry and over cooked. I would give less stars if they hadn't corrected this. The server and the manager were very apologetic and the new order came out 100% better. Service- excellent, food- good. Would come back.
