The Island Mermaid - Ocean Beach

I usually don't write reviews, but my experience at the Island Mermaid was outstanding. Between the food, the service, and the view it was amazing. The server was this beautiful polite blonde, I think her name was Laura not sure. She was awesome, everything was done in a timely fashion and she kept the drinks coming and checked on our table frequently. My friend and I split the fried calamari for an appetizer which was to die for, cooked perfectly golden and crispy seasoned just right. I had the crab cakes as my entree, which were also delicious, not fishy cooked and seasoned perfectly. My friend had their freshly house made vegetable burger, which I had to try because it looked so good and tasted even better. The food and the service were amazing, I had such a great time stayed even after we ate to get some drinks and watch the beautiful sunset right off the deck from our table. The entire deck where we were sitting and all the tables over looks the bay makes for a lovely and romantic view. I would go back in a heart beat !!

The only thing that surpasses the quality of the food is the quality of the service. The staff operates with a level of professionalism not usually found in such a casual atmosphere. We went for the view...we continue to come back for the consistent quality. Sean Peggy Murphy

I thought the food was delicious and the service was great. We did have to wait a little but it is a summer Sunday on Fire Island! The steamers and lobster roll were both amazing. And the view can't be beat!!

This place was fantastic. Food, service, great. Hostess Victoria Wisdom is a goddess. Entertainment by Miss Caitlin Bell, accompanied by Andy was Rocking , everyone was up and shaking it. Appearance by the next Miss New York State, Miss Jessica Lynn was over the top. I think it was a good experience.

My favorate on Fire Island. Outstanding view. Always a terrific meal. Broad menu. Excellent crew. Checks all the boxes. You're cheating yourself if you haven't experienced this jewel!!
