Dead End Bakehouse - Ocean City

I visited the restaurant on May 24, 2021, at 9 PM and was disappointed with my experience. I ordered vegan cream cheese but received regular cream cheese instead. When I brought this to the attention of a rude male worker, he lied and claimed that he had given me the vegan option. When I returned to address the issue, he dismissively told me he was alone and busy, directing me to go to the back of the line. I left without having eaten anything substantial.

The bagels were incredibly delicious, and they offer a vegan cream cheese option as well. I really appreciated that they marked which bagels are also vegan! The bread looked amazing too!

The vegan cream cheese is just repackaged Daiya, and it's overpriced. The sourdough bread didn’t have any sour flavor at all; you could probably find better at ShopRite or Barefoot. The bagels were decent, but you can find better ones at Hot Bagels.

The bagels here are fantastic, but there's some feedback for management: ordering three bagel sandwiches shouldn’t take 45 minutes beyond the scheduled pickup time. Even my drip coffee was delayed! I noticed walk-in customers ordering bagels while those of us with mobile orders were informed that they were out of the same bagel a walk-in had just ordered. Is there no order management system in place? I felt really sorry for the staff who had to handle frustrated customers. Improving organization would elevate this place significantly, or perhaps it would be better to limit the order options. My experience was on July 30, 2023, at 10:30 AM for a 9:45 pickup.

Additionally, the staff tends to be quite rude. I usually tip to support a local business, but after my most recent experience, I’m done. Regardless of whether you go early in the morning or during peak hours, the staff's attitude remains unfriendly. They seem indifferent to customer satisfaction and don’t prioritize online orders, which often leaves customers arriving only to find that the bagels they want are sold out. It’s disappointing to write this review, but I suggest you avoid Dead End unless you’re willing to wait an hour for a cold bagel. Instead, consider trying Bennies Bread or Hot Bagels in Somers Point!
