Ceja's Mexican Diner Grill - Oceanside

I used to think this was an excellent value for quality Tex-Mex in the neighborhood, but my recent visit left me disappointed. The tacos were completely lacking in flavor, and the portion sizes have shrunk along with their prices, which are now surprisingly high. To make matters worse, there was no air conditioning on a scorching day, and the front doors were left wide open, inviting flies to join us at our table. They do offer a complimentary serving of chips and salsa, which turned out to be tastier than the actual meals. It's sad to see a place that once thrived losing its charm and not understanding why business has declined. While there are still many loyal fans of this restaurant, the bar and restaurant industry as a whole has been affected by rising gas prices and other costs. I sincerely hope Ceja's can get back on track.

I ordered a chili verde burrito, and while the customer service was excellent—everyone was very nice and courteous—the burrito itself was quite disappointing. The meat lacked flavor and had a texture more reminiscent of roast beef rather than the tender pork I expect in a chili verde burrito. Additionally, the chili verde sauce tasted watered down. Overall, I would not recommend this dish.

The atmosphere was not enjoyable. The cook kept giving me strange looks from the kitchen. The food was mediocre at best. I'm not one to leave negative reviews, but my experience here was less than pleasant. To make matters worse, the salsa tasted like it came from a can, and when I asked for more tortillas, they charged me an extra $4. While I don't mind paying for extra, the way they handled it felt rude and condescending. Perhaps it was just an off day for them.

Great food, staff and prices!!. The employees are awesome and friendly!! Outside and inside seating is a plus. They also serve draft and bottled beer and drinks. Parking easy and close. Would recommend!! Their fries are so good!!

Chips were light hot and crispy. The fish tacos had a nice crisp thin batter fried to perfection that complimented the fish perfectly. The Chimichanga was also fried evenly with a nice crispy tortilla that was well drained so it not super greasy. The carnitas seasoning was amazing, I could see these would?ve great in any other dish you would choose.
