Mex - Odesa

Eating and drinks were amazing. I fell in love with the concept of this place. rich menu, fair prices and good service. also chairs were really comfortable. look at this place. Five stars.

Decided to try local Mexican food. Ended up at MEX Mexican Grill. I ordered a few things off the menu. I got the Loaded Burrito, and Nacho Platter. I was also able to try the Fajita plate, and the Taquitos. Again, not as authentic as I hoped, but I am in Odessa so keep that in mind. The Fajita plate was extremely delicious, the tortillas were not just flour tortillas, but a seed/herb blend. The taquitos had a nice little spicy zest to them. The loaded burrito didn't impress me too much, because I was getting a hint of cumin in each bite. The Nacho Platter should not be confused with loaded nachos. They came on a plate with a bowl of carne apart. Small suggestion, you may be able to order the Fajita plate on top of the nachos. The service was great, and the outside seating was comfortable. The food came out on a timely matter. Highly recommend the cheese balls, for those with a sweet tooth. They come with powdered sugar, and raspberry jam.

Ok, so let me preface this by saying that I grew up in southern California where intensely delicious authentic Mexican food is nearly ubiquitous... hence, my standards are high. That said, the food wasn’t bad, but it was not whatsoever Mexican food. It was bland, not spicy, none of the typical Mexican spices or sauces, wrong cheeses, flour tortillas (they did have corn chips, but the tacos were on flour tortillas). Also, the food is sweet, which is a big turn off for me. I can’t stand sugar added to my food. If you have never eaten real Mexican food before, and if you don’t mind small portions, you might like this place just fine. Also, if you simply order a steak or something outwardly non-Mexican, you’ll be fine... but for me, I was craving actual Mexican food and so I was really disappointed. The service, however, was excellent, so it’s difficult for me to give only two stars, but based on how disappointing the food was, 3 stars would be a lie. I attached a picture of their combo plate which is 480 uah. This is more than I would have paid in America for the same amount of food.

TL;DR: Order their good cheap local beer, not food. Pretty disappointed, we ordered nachos and they came with enough guacamole to scoop 3-4 chips. My burger's bread was super dry and tasteless. The beef patty and cheese were decent. The waitress, however, was friendly and did a very good effort speaking to us in english, which is not that common here, so bonus points for her. The local beer was pretty good.

Ordered the nacho plate and iced tea. GF order beef tacos and cola. Everything was bland, no spice. Actually tasted as if there was sugar added. Nachos had to have been made by someone who has never seen what nachos look like. Was hot inside. The waitress completely forgot my drink order. I'd give this a hard pass on the future.
