We decided to take a vacation for the Thanksgiving holiday. I had no interest in trying to cook a meal while out of state so we did a search for soul food places in the area that could provide us with a nice meal. We ordered a meal comprised of things like greens, rolls, ham, etc. We picked up our meal on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. When we entered, we were cheerfully greeted and welcomed. I was taking pictures for my review-like I do for most places I visit. One of the ladies asked why I was taking pictures, but then she realized and told me to post them on Instagram. Lol! They included a nice card with our meal. That was very thoughtful. We enjoyed our food on Thanksgiving day! It wasn't quite my Mama's food, but it was hearty.
The Mr. And I have been passing this place for months and I'm SO thankful we finally stopped in today. First off the place is decorated beautifully, it's clean, pristine, and very warm and welcoming. You are greeted instantly by some lovely, beautiful, and kind women. They ask you if you're dining in or if it's to-go and they explain the process to glory. We decided to dine in after seeing the beautifully prepared food in front of us, and we both opted for the pot roast and man was that a great choice. We both gotmashed potatoes and I got collard greens and I have to say it's the best meal I've eaten in Destin in all 3 years of us living here. They explained several events coming this week all targeted towards helping people. You can FEEL the love in that place and in every bite. I honestly don't know why you're still sitting there reading this when your bellies could be so happily fed at this piece of souls heaven. I cannot wait to try other meals. We're currently racing home to devour this sweet potato pie. Praise God for good food in Destin finally!!!! Great job Soul Bistro you won some loyal folks here.
The atmosphere is friendly, and the staff has excellent customer service.
The WORST food I have had in a long time! The food is premade and sitting in metal pans under heat lamps. I guess the lamps are just there so you can see the food because it is cold. They know it is cold, because they offer to microwave it for you in a little microwave behind the counter. Once the food is warmed up in the microwave, you can now pay for your meal, $52 for the two of us, we each had and meal and drink. The drinks are 20oz bottled soda. There is also a dessert counter with quite a few options, I am not sure what is homemade but I saw a stickers from Walmart on the banana pudding and cobbler. This restaurant really needs to rethink things, people don't want to eat things made in the morning or night before and have sat out all day. This restaurant should make food when you order it and get rid of the heat lamps and cold dried out food. Also, if you made the food for each customer it would be reasonable to charge $25 a plate. If you choose to keep it like you have it, you should invest in commercial grade food heating and make food fresh every hour or so. It is unacceptable to eat food in the afternoon that has been there all day, as the young lady serving me stated. Soul Bistro please revisit your business plan. The idea is great the delivery is horrific.
