I went there with a friend & they have all kinds of different coffee's & Tea's.I had the soup & it was to die for..they have a plate where you can sample all their soups..the gardens are beautiful & well maintained..nestled by the shade of the tree's & a lovely creek runs through it.Camping is available there as well.I really enjoyed my time there. The Grist Mill is still standing where over 100 years ago probably way more ,they used to grind different types of flour for the locals & surrounding areas..it's a must see. The staff are friendly & more then happy to tell you all about this gem.I'd go back again.
We had a great lunch here, the simple soup and sandwich menu was good, try the local fruit lemonade.
The Grist Mill is an attraction as much as a restaurant, but it is only the restaurant that we explored-- this time. It prides itself on supplying itself from its own extensive gardens as much as possible. Fare includes soups, sandwiches, salads, baked goods (the milk-choclate chip shortbread cookies are amazing), and charcuterie. The restaurant decor fits the theme of an old farm house and includes a gift shop filled with preserves and pottery among other things. It is not fine dining, but the food is fresh and good, and it is located close to a number of wineries, including Herder and Clos du Soleil, both of which are very good and just down the street. A great place to take a break from a wine sipping tour.
My partner and I were recommended to this little cafe at the Grist Mill by a local winemaker. We were very delighted to hear that the chef Natasha likes to use local ingredients (e.g veggies and herbs are grown on site!). We ordered two egg salad sandwiches with sprouts and avocado plus a side salad, a bowl of corned beef & cabbage soup, and a glass of lavender lemonade. The flavour of sandwiches and the soup was unbelievably fresh! The lavender lemonade is so perfect for the summer. We couldn't have enough of the soup and ordered a second bowl. We loved the soup so much that we asked Natasha if we could purchase more soup to take home. She was so generous that she took out a container and poured the rest of the soup that she has prepared for the day and charged us only a small fee. She also gave us a free vanilla scone and two lavender short bread cookies for dessert. OMG, everything was so heavenly delicious!!!
