We stumbled into Mondo's after not being convinced by the other offerings around and after a week of trying all the local delicacies we wanted a hearty Italian homemade dinner. The resturant is off the main road down a street and is tucked away, don't let this put you off. We were greeted with a smile and offered a table, minimal tourist in, mainly a locals venue. We got through with minimal issues on the language front. Food was great we had the dry cured beef to start which was on a bed of rocket and parmesan with a fantastic olive oil drizzled over the top. The portion side was generous and only 7/8euro. We followed this up with a penne arrabbiata, which was a hometown recipe, deliciously spicy heat, fantastic. Of course we were served he customary bread with the meal. I have to briefly mention Mondo who we presume is the owner hence the name, although we could chat a lot with him, he was friendly and inviting and the hardest working man in Olbia! All in all we had a lovely meal and it came to 40euro which we thought was great value.
I visited with my partner and it is a interesting restaurant Witt photos from different periods of time in Italy which was nice to look at. The location is a bit further away from the tourist area but still a walkable distance. My partner ordered a pizza and I ordered the homemade ravioli. Within 10 minutes, he got his pizza and I waited a further 10 minutes for mine which was slightly disappointing as we obviously wanted to each together. Nobody let me know how long my food would be either which was slightly frustrating and every other table had their food brought out the same time. When I did get mine it was nice but a tad bland apart from the lemon I could taste in the tomato sauce. I was slightly disappointed with the pasta as I was looking forward to having some homemade.
We come here almost every time when we are in Sardinia. Pizza is awsome and the service is very nice. Highly recommended!
This place is a hidden gem for pasta lovers. The Spaghetti Arrabiata was amazing. The noodles were perfectly al dente and the tomato sauce was rich and spicy. It opens only in the evening for dinner at 19:30. Staff is very friendly with limited English proficiency though. Would highly recommend it to the typical Italian spicy pasta lovers!!!!
