La Marea - Old Saybrook

Everything was great! The service was spot on, the restaurant is beautiful. The only thing I was disappointed with was the brussel sprout salad. Raw sprouts are not my thing. In the flip side, I actually recommended your restaurant to our friends who are going up to CT in Nov. we hope to be back!

The food is great, wonderful Italian wines, great waiters and wait staff but the noise and ambience in the dining room are terrible. Firstly, the style feels like a coffee shop instead of an elegant or rustic Italian restaurant. Worst of all, the noise level is practically unbearable. Unfortunately we've decided we won't come there again until you can do some sound modification in the dining room. We hope you work on that. Thanks!

Great menu all four of our entrees were excellent. The owner greeted us and made us feel very welcomed. Great ambience and wine list at reasonable prices. We love returning here, they never disappoint.

We had an outstanding birthday dinner for my husband at La Marea! From my first phone conversation with Juliana to confirm our reservation and the possibility of doing something special for my husband's birthday, and then the warm, spirited greeting from Nino as we arrived, and then the very attentive and knowledgeable care from our server absolutely everyone made us feel like treasured family and they truly wanted to make sure we enjoyed our evening. The special of the night, the softshell crab with lemon aïoli, was AMAZING! And, my husband thoroughly enjoyed the house rabbit dish. Everything was just delicious, including the housemaid Irish cream they sent to our table. The ambience is just lovely and we can hardly wait to go back with a big group to enjoy it with us! Thank you for such a lovely evening and for making my husband‘s birthday so special! 

The service felt incredibly rushed, we were seated all the way in a corner prior to the arrival of other parties. The menus we received were crinkled and stained. Despite all of this we were fine. My mother's food was fine, however mine lacked flavor and I wasn't impressed based on the reviews I read. I decided to say something to the gentleman who was noticeably in management.. He offered to give me a different meal to go which I accepted and appreciated. Overall, the experience wasn't bad but it also wasn't great. Had I known, I would have gone elsewhere for our Mother's Day celebration. I have a background in Food Beverage and expected more but left less satisfied than I had hoped.
