If I could give 10 stars for food and service each, I would. We went knowing we would over order to have leftovers to take home. We started with the Spicy Edamame and fried Mandoo (dumplings). The Edamame had just enough spice to entice 3 or 4 more edamame in quick concession without feeling like the spice level has blown out your taste buds and the dumplings, which were delicious on their own had an unassuming little cup of dipping sauce. I'm not sure what this sauce was, but it could be sold by the gallon, and I"d buy it. For the entrees we ordered the Beef Bulgogi, Beef Bibimbap, and Tteokbokki. The beef practically melted in your mouth from both dishes which were expertly made, and the side accompaniments were perfectly spiced and arranged for each dish. This was the first time I've had authentic Tteokbokki, normally I get microwave Tteokbokki from Amazon which are extremely dense but still delicious. The Tteokbokki were little spicy pillows of heaven. Had I known, I would have just ordered multiple Tteokbokki dishes instead. It's listed as a slice level which scared me a bit, but no. It's so perfectly spiced and balanced. Best food I've eaten in my entire life. I HIGHLY recommend on the food alone. Generous portions, variety, and good value. The staff is the other reason we'll be returning. So very friendly, and accommodating. Hands on without making you feel uncomfortable as though they are watching you eat. Maru Sushi Grill restaurant is 3 hours from home in Missouri. We were here to go to the Omaha zoo and just so happened to find this restaurant. In the future I can 100% state that the 3 hour trip both ways is so worth it to travel just to eat at Maru Sushi Korean Grill, which we will definitely do.
Tried maru for the first time this weekend and had an amazing experience. the sushi rolls were fantastic, the atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was very friendly. I also appreciate that they asked if we wanted to give a straw instead of giving each one and using reusable sticks to reduce waste. I will be back in any case!
Yummy! So excited to have found this gem while in town on business. I have a great Korean restaurant near my home in St Paul and get cravings for their bonchon (sides) and dolsot bibimbop. Maru's hit the spot and did not disappoint. The crunchy rice at the bottom of the hot pot is always my favorite!
Ok so let's start with they are short staffed. What place isn't these days? But this little diamond in the rough is worth every penny and minute spent inside this establishment! The drinks and appetizers were prompt and delicious. The main course 4 Sushi rolls for 2 people were too much. And absolutely the best my wife and I have ever had!!! The surprise was the bill. Half of what we normally spend! I can't recommend this place high enough.
