Delicious food at an excellent price, and the portion sizes are generous too.
One of Omaha's hidden gems! This restaurant provides an authentic culinary experience that transports diners to East Africa. As soon as I walked in, I was welcomed by the delightful aroma of African spices. Being a first-time visitor, the chef kindly guided me through the menu. In the end, he suggested a special meal featuring a variety of dishes, which turned out to be fantastic! The food was fresh and rich in flavor, with generous portion sizes at very reasonable prices. Although the restaurant has an older decor that could benefit from a renovation, it doesn't detract from the overall experience. If you're a food enthusiast in search of a unique local dining adventure, I highly recommend paying this place a visit!
Delicious food freshly cooked, really nice owner who answered our questions. Highly recommend the Sambusas. Go inside the door and walk all the way down the hall to find it.
This is a small locally owned business. The appetizers of Sambusa and pillow bread are outstanding. The Sambusa of this day was full of spiced tender beef, carrots, and onions making it a great tasting meat hand-pie. The pillow bread was a perfect vehicle to scoop up the chickpeas. The meat platter includes spiced stir fried beef, chicken and fried fish. To note, the fish was seasoned deliciously, very lightly breaded, and cook to tender goodness. I liked the sides veggies that came with the meal of a chickpea stew and braised collard greens. The meal was also accompanied with rice (not pictured) and the rice was a lovely pilaf style rice. Pro tip, this is a long building and the entrance to this restaurant is on Douglas St NOT 25th st. Open the door, and you will be met with a long hallway with 8 suites . This restaurant is at the very end on the right. If the sign says closed, but the door to the suite is open, the restaurant is open. To note about the decor, it is sparse. The overhead lighting in the dining area is on a 2 min motion sensor, so if there aren 't a lot of people, you will have mood lighting most of the time. Also, the building and space is clean, but utilitarian. This place is about the food not decor.
