Nice location in downtown Orinda. It's well visited by cycling groups on the weekend. Service was quick for a plain coffee despite it being busy.Parking: Lots of open street parking spots on a weekend
Peet's needs to do a better job about hiring better employees and better training them. I stopped by the Orinda branch at around 4 p.m. On 10/19/23, to have a cold drink. Since it was too late to order anything caffinated, I ordered a DECAF iced latte and emphasized on the word DECAF at least a couple of times while ordering. When the drink became ready, I asked the barista if the drink was indeed de caffinated! She hesitated a bit I think realizing that she had made a mistake , but rather than admitting to her mistake and then making the requested drink, she lied and told me that it was indeed a decaf drink. Her mistake cost me a night of sleeplessness, ruining my Friday for sure. The same employee, a month ago, asked me if I needed my change back, after I handed her a bill for the pastery that I had purchased. Customer service is definitely not nearly at the level that it used to be at Peet's, and I am very disappointed!
Cool stop on a hot day, and Peet's has the best cappuccino around. I like the small, which at Peet's always has 2 shots. The medium has more milk but still 2 shots. You have to add a shot to end up with the same ratio of espresso to milk. If it's a 3-shot day but you like more milk, go with the large. It has 3 shots and lots of milk. The ice drinks here are amazing, too.
This is definitely one of the peets locations. They had plenty of medium roast ready to serve. Service was fast and friendly. Restaurant was clean, and there were no vagrants camping out in the restaurant. Not sure I'm a fan of putting out the various milks at the self-serve station. If COVID-19 taught us anything, it is that we should minimize the number of times we have to touch something in public. I am by no means a germaphobe, but there are plenty of opportunities to spread germs or taint condiment left out in the open.
