Oroville ccould use some culture besides fast food restaurants like Panda Express. Indian Cuisine comes from the heart. Indian cuisine uses more spices than you could name off the top of your head. Indian chefs study for years to become master of their trade. It's not like grilling a steak; put it on the grill until it's cooked and done, it takes skill. Give it Indian food a chance. It would be a shame to see this business go under because of fear. I highly recommend getting their basic curry (Indian food is naturally spicy, so if you don't like spicy be sure to tell them that), with jasmine rice, that is always a great introduction to Indian food. Samosas are kind of like Indian Empanadas, filled with diced potatoes, carrots, and peas and spices. They are very good. If you like spicy, get Vindaloo. It's my favorite dish, and is so spicy it will make you feel closer to God. Don't ignore this place, Oroville. DO IT! Let's show adjacent towns we have real culture and class above our 6 billion hamburger joins and 10 thousand fast food restaurants and our fake mexican taco bells etc. etc.
I really enjoyed my lunch here. I ordered a 4 entree lunch which comes with rice and naan and shared with my two young sons. The server was able to guide me to two options which weren't spicy for my sons, and to two flavorful, spicy curries which I really liked. Flavorful and we really loved the naan. I would go again especially when I'm in the mood for good, spice Indian food!
I LOVE Indian food but I not impressed. The Saag Paaner tasted like the spinach came out of a can and the chickpea masala had NO flavor. How does Indian food have no flavor? My husband ordered coconut curry chicken and it was actually good except he only got a few (4) small pieces of chicken. The nan bread is good. Small portions but small prices too.
Food is okay, though the curries were all separated from sitting on the heat too long. Not much substance in the curries either, mainly just sauce with little veggies or meat. Friend found a hair in her rice, too, which was not pleasant.
Finally I don't have to go all the way to Chico for good Indian food! Great service and great, fresh food.
