Bistrot Mazarin is a typical French bistro - they are quite plentiful - but that doesn't take away from the experience.
AH Paris, it is easy to have a high expectation, but order some thing simple, well know like a Ceasar Salad and only truley exceptional resturants will
This restaurant has incredible views from a terrace set right on the most beautiful part of the river. It is one of the loveliest places I have ever seen. The town itself is limited, and the few open restaurants that exist (for lunch, at least) are overly crowded. Plus, the town itself (basically 2 streets) is nothing to write home about, in general--you are there for the scenery, so choose this resto. When we arrived in the morning for a day trip from Paris, nothing was open. (This was a Tuesday in October--weekends during high season may be different.) All I wanted was a cup of coffee. As we passed through the town (not overly "charming," not drawing me in), we came to a medieval arch, and once we passed through it, we saw the gorgeous "impressionist" scene that we had come for. And as we walked a bit along this scene, we came to Bistrot du Loing. The door was ajar, so I peeked in and asked if they were open. The owner (manager?) said no--he was just mopping the floor--bust asked, "Cafe?" I sais, "Yes!" and we were served great cafe creme. What a nice thing to do for us.After exploring the mill and the church and walking along the bank a bit, it was time for lunch. We thought at first to stay on those 2 streets in town so that the train station would be a shorter walk. There appears to be one place where everyone eats, and they had no room for us. So we headed back to nature and the great scenery at Bistrot du Loing. My husband had a hearty French traditional dish with kidneys and mushrooms. I had a delicious and well prepared fish. We sat on the terrace. Perfect.Again, you are not missing anything in town--so follow the Impressionists and go with the scenery. We are so glad we did.
I've eaten here and the food is good. The place is located in one of the best places in Moret. It's almost never open when I pass, which is often. If you are lucky enough to find it open on a sunny day it's great to be on the deck looking over tje Loing towards one of Sisleys great views.
